Guest artists from Denmark and Germany are lending an international flavor to the West Jersey Chamber Music Society's 2002 Bach Festival. Danish organist Sven-Ingvart Mikkelsen and German violinist Jochen Brusch join music director Joel Krott this week for two programs at the First Presbyterian Church in Moorestown.

"They are wonderful musicians who perform Bach's music beautifully," notes Krott, who has guided the chamber music through 21 Bach festivals.
Krott says Brusch and Mikkelsen have been performing together for almost 15 years. They specialize in music from the baroque and romantic eras and have made a number of recordings issued on CD. One of their showstoppers is Mikkelsen's transcription for violin and organ of Vivaldi's Four Seasons.

On Saturday, the two musicians will perform sonatas for violin and organ. Mikkelsen will also perform works for organ solo.

On Feb. 24, Brusch joins Krott and the society's chamber orchestra to perform three violin concertos by Bach. On March 10, Mikkelsen will also perform a solo organ recital in the church's music series.

Guest artists like Mikkelsen and Brusch do more than add some luster to the Bach Festival, explains Krott. They also broaden the artistic horizons of the society’s musicians.
